scuff the open road

rusting sockets with
bitters-
i clear my breath
when the dust blows
when the blur of
gin and sun
leave me
lone
and i drift
from your sight--

roll
through the bareness
of my legs,
still coaxing,
with only her voice
and a lemon in my pocket
to squeeze
when i thirst for you;
so sour,
like the morning we kissed
and you let me walk away.
